Meet Becky | Nashville Moms Network

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Nashville?

Decatur, IL ( Central IL ), Went to College at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL, and then moved to St. Louis, MO for 7 years where I started working in the Renewable Fuels Industry, but was recruited by a company in Franklin, TN and have lived in the area for the last 7 years.

Child(ren) and Age(s)? James Leo, 8 years old and Georgia Kate, 3 years old

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…

I am kind of a SLOB! I may look like I have it all together, but really, I have a high threshold for clutter, my car is always a mess, and my bedroom and closet are always way more messy than they should be.

Anyone special you’d like to thank for helping you through parenthood?

I should probably say my husband, and although he really is an amazing partner and Dad to our children, I couldn’t be the parent I am today without having the best role models to look up to, MY PARENTS! Now that I am a parent myself, I realize just how hard they worked to make sure I had an amazing childhood. They instilled in me the value of hard work, quality family time, and saving your money. I am so thankful for everything my parents did for me as a child, and everything they continue to do to support me as a parent.

What are your favorite things to do with your kids?

Watching my children experience something for the first time is my absolute favorite.  Whether it is seeing the look on their faces as they see Disney World for the first time, or watching them pet our new kitten Lucky, or even hearing the laughter from the first time we made slime ( and a mess ) in our kitchen.  I live for those moments when I get to see the pure joy in their eyes and their smiles, and I can almost, for a split second, remember what it is like to be experiencing everything for the first time myself.

Are you involved in a business venture, a local organization, a creative endeavor, or in the corporate world? Please share!

Yes!!! About 2 years ago, my long-time friend and I created our online clothing store, On the Go Boutique. We have been long time fans of online shopping, and more recently “social media shopping”, but felt disappointed with the quality and options for women our age. We don’t claim to be professional fashionistas backed by years of experience in the fashion world. What we do have, is an appreciation for the “everyday stylish” woman….the woman who manages to have the perfect outfit for everything! We focus on trendy and classic style as our inspiration, QUALITY that maintains its integrity through wash and wear, and FIT that is flattering and comfortable for the adult woman of today (RIP 20’s body).

Our website is www.shoponthegoboutique.com & our Facebook group is https://m.facebook.com/otgboutique/.

How has this community been instrumental in getting you to where you are now? (Ps this means like the Houston neighborhood community).

Nashville is the first town I have lived in where I feel like I am HOME. This city is made up of mostly transplants, and because of that we all seem to bond a bit more easily….that and it does have the element of being a “southern town” which is a breath of fresh air for this Midwesterner! Although Nashville is a big city, you somehow get that small town “Hallmark Movie” feel. The ladies in my circle here in Nashville have been there to help watch my children, motivate me to get back into working out after having my daughter, and are always there as a sounding board to talk about work/life balance.
